The XRDi Mechanically Compressed Direct Injection Fuel System (MCDi) is an engine fuel delivery modification that brings vast benefits to the host engine. XRDi has successfully used the MCDi system on a range of small engines, including already developed XRDi engines and existing 2-stroke engines.

 Allows a 2-stroke engine to run on any liquid fuel (heavy fuel or gasoline): diesel, kerosene, Jet A, JP 5, JP 8, etc. without modification or adjustment.

A look at High Pressure Direct Injection vs. MCDi.

Showed here is a high-speed image capture of the 5 - 15 micron fuel particle size in XRDi's fuel particle test assembly. Notice the "cigarette smoke" atomization which is essential to spark ignition of heavy fuel.

A small compressor assembly attached to the cylinder head, driven by a timing belt from the engine crankshaft, delivers a highly stratified charge to the main combustion chamber via a fuel/air delivery valve known as a poppet valve.
