OUR COMPANY
AN INTRODUCTION TO XDRiWHO WE ARE
Working with Giants – The Clients
Since 2002 XRDi has developed engines with some of the biggest names in the military drone business. These include Textron, AAI, Aerosonde, Cessna, Raytheon, Aurora, Aeromech, SESI, Jabil, PAE-ISR and Lycoming. The company also obtained SBIR grants and provided consulting for other companies.Amazing Engines
Together with these thought leaders in 2-stroke engines, our partner companies, and the deep experience in XRDi, we have developed and extensively tested a line of 2-stroke, "fuel-agnostic" engines ranging from 6-80 HP. Although much of the engine development has been focused on drone propulsion XRDi engines also offer very significant advantages toothed engines currently used for applications such as man-portable generators, truck APUs and many others. What Next?
XRDi is seeking to leverage our unique engine and fuel management technology and designs. We are interested in discussing new applications for our technology and partnership opportunities to develop new products that require small, light, high-performing engines.MISSION STATEMENT
XRDi is committed to the development of simple, cost effective small engine solutions that offer a high power to weight ratio, low emissions, and the ability to run equally well on whatever fuel the user has available without adjustment, pre-warming, or starting aids.XRDi solutions address efficiency, emission and noise concerns historically associated with 2-stroke technology, and place 2-strokes back into contention as a 21st century power unit.
HISTORY
DEVELOPMENT OF THE MCDI TECHNOLOGY
MCDi inventor, Andy Allen, has a deep history in high performance 2-stroke engines. Andy worked for Pratt and Whitney in Connecticut and then started a company (AMW Inc.) to manufacture and design 2-stroke racecar engines. AMW, Inc. won 10 national championships with its engine designs. AMW then merged with Cayuna (which produced ultralight engines and a gasoline engine for the military M17 decontamination unit) to form 2SI in Beaufort, SC. 2SI manufactured 2-stroke engines for the military, Andy developed the MCDi technology and eventually split off to form XRDi in Beaufort, SC.SOLVING DRONE ENGINE PROBLEM
From that point Andy and XRDi dealt almost exclusively with military prime contractors solving drone engine problems and providing a Heavy fuel solution to drone propulsion. Eventually this became know as the multifuel solution even though none of the competing technologies were truly multifuel solutions. They were primarily making a gasoline engine burn heavy Diesel fuel or jet fuels. The MCDi engines however could burn any fuel without any adjustment or retuning. This was not really a requirement; just a great innovation in solving the heavy fuel needs for drone engines.THE XRDi ADVANTAGE
Successful prototype engines with thousands of tested hours delivering reliability and performance in the field.
